This Week's Topics

  • New Eagle - Congratulations once again to Jacob Schreiber on becoming Troop 785’s newest Eagle Scout!  Way to GO!  We’ll keep you posted on the date for his Eagle Court of Honor ceremony, which will probably be sometime in May.
  • Another New Eagle - Congratulations to Stephen Jones on becoming Troop 785’s newest (59th) Eagle Scout!
  • July 4th Parade - If you're in town next Friday, please make plans to join us for Duncanville's 4th of July parade. American Legion Post 81, needs 6 of our scouts to help carry their banners. We will SHOW at 8am 7/4/08 in Class A's on Freeman (near Hardin Intermediate) and the parade starts at 9am.

Miscellaneous

  • Reminder Re: Camping Food Costs - Please remember that if you or your scout commit to attending a campout, you/your scout will be responsible for paying the applicable food costs unless you advise Larry Ward or Mary Anne  by the prior Wednesday that you or your scout will not be attending. Some campouts may have other requirements, e.g. summer camp or winter camp.
  • Reminder re:  Proper Attire for Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review - Class A uniform is required for each Scoutmaster Conference and Board of Review. 
  • Merit Badge Counselors - Larry W or John R, Sr. will assign a merit badge counselor for merit badges being worked on by scouts on their own.  It is the scout's responsibility to work with the counselor and have the counselor sign off on the merit badge requirements.  If the scout has attempted to contact the counselor for sign-off without success, the scout should discuss the matter with Larry W or John R, Sr. for for follow-up or alternative sign-off.
  • Cell Phone/Ink Cartridge Recycling - Please remember that this is our official and ongoing fundraiser.  If you know of anyone who got a new cell phone as a gift, please ask them to consider donating their old cell phone to our troop!  Also, used we accept used ink cartridges!!!
  • Parent / Adult Involvement - Remember, we need at least 2 parents / adults at each scouting event.
